Question

Entered 1099-Div - but on Federal Review, it pops up as 1099-Misc - Rent and asking for Schedule C, E, or 4385

I received a small dividend from TD Ameritrade for $12 bucks.  It came on a 1099-Div form and I entered that info in Turbo Tax Deluxe as 1099-Div when filling out my information.  When I go to run the Federal Review, it has one error and takes me to 1099-Misc where it shows the $12 bucks under Box 1 Rents and is requiring me to pick a form to report it on - Schedule C, E, 4385, or other.

First off - this is a 1099-DIV and I verified it was entered correctly.  Why in the Federal Review is it taking me to a 1099-MISC and showing it as RENT.

Don't know what to do here... is this a bug and will this be fixed???

TurboTax is considering your dividend entry as Rent reported in box 1 of a form 1099-MISC as you may have entered it as a 1099-MISC.

Go into your tax return, delete the entry, and re-enter it as a 1099-DIV form.

You can enter your form 1099-DIV by following these steps:

    1. In TurboTax, open your tax return
    2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages & Income
    3. Locate the section Investments and Savings and click on the arrow on the right
    4. Click Start next to Dividends on 1099-DIV.
