so here's what i've done... i tried to enter it using the "import from bank or brokerage". no dice. then i went to the "i'll type it myself" button, i typed "US Treasury" into the "received from" box and then added the total from the 1099-int into box 3. i clicked "continue" then selected "none of these apply" and hit continue. clicked that i don't have any other accounts to add and finally clicked done. i've done this probably 10 times (including now as i'm writing this) to no avail... still says the same amount in the 2b and its not showing in the breakdown when i click the magnifying glass icon..  i have no clue what i'm doing wrong... the software was acting up when i was inputting my HSA information but i got it to work after backing up to the start of that section 3 times doing the same things each time...

Something is screwed up with your software......fixing it?

    Two things to try

    1)  Easiest...shut down TTX, then download and run the "Manual Update".  (it takes longer than expected to install once you start it)...........

Manually Update TurboTax for Windows Software (intuit.com)

    Tougher route
    2) Uninstall TTX entirely, then download a NEW TTX installation file and install that. The newest installation files contain many of the most recent bug fixes....you might still have to run an internal update once that has started though, as the installation file may be a step or two behind.....and you need to start a fake dummy-file to re-install any state software before you open your current tax file.

If you entered interest received in box 3 of the Form 1099-INT it will be on your Form 1040 Line 2b as taxable interest.

will i have to wait until i complete the entire tax return until i will be able to see that it was added? i see my other banks and brokerages listed with the taxable amounts after i added them...

If you are using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions, click on Forms.  Then open the Form 1040 on the left side of the screen.

If you are using the TurboTax online web-based editions -

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
