eror in deductions

I am doing taxes and the itemized vs standard deduction screen, it shows two boxes: standard $24,000 and maximum itemized $29,600. Yet, the turbotax recommends the smaller standard deduction as a path forward! Is it a bug? Thanks,

You might look at your deductions for state, local, property and sales tax (SALT). This deduction has been capped at $10,000 federally. So your total entered itemized deductions may be higher than the standard deduction, but if you have caps or limits in place to some of them, it might make your standard deduction higher. Check the Schedule A.
