Error Code 119 - Unable to Create return?

In April, I downloaded, installed, and filed an extension using TurboTax Desktop 2022, on a Windows 10 computer. I saved the file. I have a new laptop, and downloaded the program, installed it successfully, but it won't open the file I created in April for my extension. Is that because I'm trying to open it on a Windows 11 computer when it was created on a Windows 10 computer? Any suggestions on how to open the file so I don't have to recreate everything again?

Thanks.

Do you have the file ending in .tax2022?  It should open.   But you need to first download the state program.

After you get the program installed or reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN

Bingo. The state program was the issue. Thank you for your rapid response. Very much appreciate it.

if @VolvoGirl advice doesn't work then Error 119 would indicate the file is corrupted.  delete or rename it. There is a backup copy on your old computer that starts with a ~ (tilde). make a copy and transfer it to your new computer to the same location as the old file.

generally, this is c:\users\user name\documents\turbotax.  remove the tilde from the name and then open Turbotax. you may need to search for the file.  if neither works you'll need to start a new return.
