Error system.runtime.serialization when trying to get updates and state file for 2024. I have used TT for years and never had a problem. I bought from Amazon and downloaded. Now when I try to open TT it takes forever and then I get a long error message the starts with "system.runtime.serialization." I get the same error message when I try to download the FREE state software. What is going on? I saw some people from 2018 to 2022 with what looked like the same issue. Can someone tell me what worked for them? Why is turbotax not fixing this if it's been a problem for years?

This error can occur for the following reasons:

    • if your internet security settings are set too high
    • TurboTax isn't set as trusted site
    • You're logged in on a different device with the same credentials

You can correct these issues by adjusting your internet security by following these steps:

    • open browser settings
    • select internet options
    • select security
    • update security settings to low
    • in security settings select trusted sites
    • add TurboTax to list
    • click close
