Hello, looking for some advice.

My situation:

I'm a PhD student, currently in my third year. I came to USA in 2016, under visa F1 with my wife, who is F2. We have been here for about 2 years and a half.

For the years 2016, 2017 I filed taxes using Sprintax, as it is provided at my University, however, while trying to file the tax for the current year (2018) in Sprintax, I received a notice saying that I don't qualify to use it any longer, and that I should start using TuboTax. I think this happened since I lived in the USA years ago while doing my MS.

Any ways, since Sprintax suggested to use turbo tax I was happy there is way to go. Could someone please help me out with clues or instructions about this issue?

Thanks so much in advance!

I suggest filling in [social security number removed] for her social security number. Or you could try [social security number removed].

I think you can complete the rest of your return without providing wife's social security number if she does not have one.  You will be able to complete return just when Turbo tax reviews it will give you error message.  You shoul file as married - your taxes might be higher if you file single.
