Failed Validation efiling 2024 Turbo Tax Deluxe online version

Hi.  I just finished completing my tax returns for 2024 and wanted to efile them.  I keep receiving failed validation error messages when transmitting my returns (efiling), something I've never encountered before with past years Turbo Tax versions.  I have WIN 11 OS, and am using TurboTax Deluxe online version.  I tried clearing my cache, cookies and browsing history, shutting down my computer and restarting, it still gives me the same error message.  Please assist.

I filed the Fed alone and it went through.

It's just my State that fails validation. I'm in California

I did the same thing - efile federal for now.  I did already pay for efiling CA returns, that is why it's annoying why I can't efile it at the same time.

Yeah me too. I have my mother's to do now and will not pay to file state. It's convenient but not necessary.

Had the same problem for the last few days. (CA) But this morning an update was available and everything went through. IRS/FTB accepted returns within 45m. Not sure what created the error, but on my end it has been resolved.

Manual install of update worked for me today.....I downloaded the superpatch for TT 2024 (I'm using Premier 2024)...extracted files...restarted TT and was able to eFile my taxes....finally after an hour of searching for clues...

I tried:

-restarting computer

- running updates

did not want to uninstall/reinstall as i have had problems with that before.

I had my most complex filing this year...so possibly software needed the patch due to number of stock transactions (found this is another post)....  hope the superpatch works for you!

Same problem which I never encountered before either.  I'll try submitting the Federal alone then California later.

I am trying to e-file an amended 1040X return and turbo tax will not let me because it says I have not had the original 1040 e-filed tax return filed and accepted.  Per the turbo e-file status the original return has been accepted and I have the refund.  How do I get the turbo tax to let me e-file the amended return?

Are you sure you are in the same account you filed your original return?

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.

  • You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
  • You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
  • Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
  • The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
  • Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
  • You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
