Federal Double Return

I already filed my federal taxes, but decided to start over since my state taxes were higher than they should have been. It is asking me to file my federal taxes, but I already have the refund for that. What do I do? It does not give me an option to skip this portion. HELP!

You have already filed your federal return, so you cannot file another one. In your case, you will need to print and mail your state return, as state returns cannot be e-filed on their own.

You cannot un-file what already has been filed. But you can change it. It seems that you want to Amend the return that you filed.  Instead of "Start a new return," look below that for the "Amend a Return" button (next to File an Extension).  It seems you should be able to do that before you file your state return if time allows, but I would be careful to check that the right figures are being pulled into the state return, and manually correct if needed.
