File 1099-NEC with IRS

I can't figure out how to file my 1099-NECs with the IRS.  I want to try to file them electronically, but the IRS site says I first need a Transmitter Control Code (TCC) before I use the FIRE system.  The TCC link takes me to an account login page.  If I try to create a new account (since a separate account is apparently needed for FIRE), it says that I already have an account.

If I file my 1099-NECs electronically with the IRS after the 1/31 deadline, are they going to penalize me?

You can file your form 1099-NEC using TurboTax. The form 1099-NEC are due to the social security administration the last day of February.

In TurboTax desktop, when you go to create a new return, you will see an option to "Prepare W-2's and 1099's for my employees or contractors."

In TurboTax online, you will see an option on your Home Page under "Your Account" to "create W-2s and 1099s."

You can prepare the 1099-NEC forms in TurboTax. You will find the option on your Business Info page, when you check the box next to Paid Contractors. You will be asked if you paid contractors, and on the next page you will be given the opportunity to launch Quick Employer Forms, that you can use to prepare and electrically file your 1099-NEC forms.

Thank you, @ThomasM125 .  To the Social Security Administration?  I thought they were due to the IRS on 1/31?

The W-3 form that you summarize your W-2 forms with gets submitted to the Social Security Administration, to which the IRS has database access to.
