I lived in NJ for 2/3 of the year and then moved to Maine. I continued to telecommute for work, located in NJ. I have a W-2 for both a NJ and a Maine. I need help. I thought I entered the correct information but the bottom line doesnt make sense.

Can you please clarify what the issue is so we can assist you?

You will need to pay taxes to New Jersey on your income from New Jersey sources.  You will need to file a resident return for the portion of time you resided in New Jersey as well as a nonresident return for the income earned while residing in Maine.

    NJ filing

As for Maine, do you have withholdings on your Maine income as well?

Did your employer require that you have taxes withheld in Maine because you were telecommuting due to Covid, or was this just a special allowance?

Please comment with more specific information so we can assist you.
