Filing my taxes but my mother(dependent) has a 1095-A

I am filing my taxes but I am getting rejected because my mom has a 1095-A.

My mother is retired and collecting social security but she is not required to do her taxes. She received a 1095-A that covers 3 months out of the year that she had insurance from the market.

Is she required to do her taxes and have her file the required form that reflects 1095-A? Or can I just add the 1099-A under my tax return?

Based on her the 1095-A. It looks like I will owe an additional money regards to my income being high.n

If you mom is not required to file, you will report her 1095-A form on your return. You still enter it the same way. You might have to pay back any premium tax credit your mom received because the credit is going to be based on the income reported in your return.

She doesn't have to file just to report the 1095-a form.

To report form 1095-A:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Go to Federal Taxes.
  3. Go to Deductions and Credit.
  4. Scroll down to Medical and click show more.
  5. Go to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
  6. Click Add another

Thanks! I was hoping based on her income I wouldn't have to pay the premium.

If you claim your mother as your dependent, you will report her 1095-A on her return.  You should compare the difference between claiming/not claiming her if you have to pay back the Premium Tax Credit she received.

If you don't claim her, she will have to file a return to report the 1095-A, but will not have to repay the PTC with no taxable income.

Here's more info on the Premium Tax Credit.
