Contact or visit your local Social Security Administration field office and make sure your social security number, name, and date of birth all match because if any one of those things is incorrect, the IRS will not allow you to file. With Social Security Administration and IRS, some of their information interfaces with each other, so your records have to match up with both of them. If you do visit your local Social Security office, bring your original (no photocopy accepted) birth certificate with you, just in case for some reason, because it happens that the information they have in their system does not match either with your birth certificate.

@Marc680

The reason you are getting that message is because the IRS has not processed your return. When the IRS receives the return you mailed in, an IRS agent has to type all your information (tax return) in their system. This takes a long time to do. Especially during tax time.

  • If you mailed in your return, per IRS, please allow 4 weeks before checking the status.
  • Refund processing time is 6 to 8 weeks from the date the IRS receives your tax return.
