For 2019 I received a W2 but for 2020 I received a 1099, same company. But its asking for my W2 info but its 1099. How do I input the correct info?

I'm a fellow user, not a tax expert, but I'll ask some preliminary questions that will help.

 

  • What kind of 1099, such as 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, etc. 
  • If 1099-MISC, what Box has income?
  • Why the change in form?  Does the company no longer consider you an employee, but now considers you as a self-employed independent contractor?
  • If you are an independent contractor, do you have business expenses to deduct? (that determines what product edition you need to use.)
