Foreign country in broker download

I downloaded from 6 broker accounts. 5 had foreign taxes paid to multiple countries, and were from the same broker. I went through the gymnastics of creating 1099-Div for each country paid, leaving only one country on each downloaded 1099. The created country 1099-Div forms are OK, but the downloaded 1099-Divs all say (not done). Form Errors says there are no errors. In each of the downloaded forms the last box, Recipient, Foreign Country, is pink (but blank), and if I fill in the State or zip code in the boxes above, it flags an error, saying they should be blank as I have designated a foreign country.  I can not find any foreign status box to correct this. I have not yet attempted to e-file, but in prior years any (not done) blocked successful filing.

You should enter only one form 1099-DIV from your broker and, when asked for which country the foreign dividends come from, just type or select Various from the drop-down menu.

The specific country of origin for the foreign dividends is irrelevant.

I tried Various in 2021, and got an error message that the country didn't match the download. Might work on 2022, but it's lots of work to undo the country separation, which worked in 2021. It's not the problem here. There's a hidden flag somewhere in the Morgan Stanley downloads that makes TT Premier think there's a foreign recipient. That flag is not in any of the made-up 1099-div, or in the download from Fidelity that had no foreign tax. The pink box causes the (not done) tag, but not the error check.

    Try the following:

In Forms Mode, bring up a 1099-DIV.  Click on the button at the right of the cell "Foreign Country."  On the box that comes up, select the top choice "not applicable" and see if that clears the error.

Tried clicking not applicable, but the foreign country box stays pink and blank.
