Did you already e-file?  How did you forget?  If you entered your information correctly the software would have offered HOH to you.

Am I Head of Household?

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your filing status (single or married filing separately) into Personal Info, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

Hi, this is not my post but I have the same question.  I always filed head of household but this year turbotax suggested that filing single the best choice. What should I do thanks....

If your information qualifies you to file as Head of Household (HOH), TurboTax will suggest that filing status.

Make sure you meet all the requirements of Head of household and that you answered all the questions related to you and your dependent.

You can qualify for Head of Household if you:

  1. Were unmarried as of December 31 this year and
  2. Paid more than half the cost to run your (or a qualifying parent's) home this year(rent, mortgage, utilities, etc.) and
  3. Supported a qualifying person.

Have you e-filed your return yet? If so, what is the status? Pending maybe? As it stands, you can't do anything until one of two things happen.

 - The IRS accepts ***AND*** processes your return in it's entirety. Your return is not processed until you have received any refund you may be due.

 - The IRS rejects your e-filed return.
