Question

Form 8888 IBonds Efile not an option

Hi,  I filled out form 8888 for $4,500 for i-bonds.

My total refund was for argument say 7500.  I filed estimated taxes too for the other $3k to be applied toward.  So I should have no other refund.

Everything shows up great until I go to file and choose e-file.

Now it asks me where I want the $4500 refund to be applied and it only gives me option of a direct deposit to my bank account or a check.  It ignores that I filed 8888.

I can access the form 8888 in the info wks and it does show on line 5A of the 8888 4500 and totals the 4500.

@SweetieJean I know you had answered some questions last year.  I also PM'd you the same question.

Hoping anyone can answer honestly.

Thank you.

On the screen where it asks you if you want direct deposit or a check, scroll all the way down. At the very bottom of the screen there is a box to check to indicate that you want to purchase I bonds. Check the box, then keep going. The exact sequence depends on whether you selected direct deposit or a check, but you will get to a screen where you can enter the amount you want to purchase. If you already filled out Form 8888 in forms mode, the amount from your form will be filled in.

This form should be available for both e-file and file by mail.
