Form 8990. Ignore and later file an amended return?

I am supposed to file 8990 for excess business interest expense from an MLP.   This was cause me to have to manually file my entire tax return.   Any thoughts on making a "mistake" and forgetting to include anything on line 13k for the excess business interest expense which would allow me to e-file my return and then later filing an amended return with Form 8990?   The amount is NOT de minimum.    Would this work?    Any downside?  Thanks.

Yes, you could Efile without Form 8990 and later Amend your return to add it.

The only downside might be is if you have to pay more tax.

A taxpayer (including, for example, an individual, corporation, partnership, S corporation) with business interest expense; a disallowed business interest expense carryforward; or current year or prior year excess business interest expense must generally file Form 8990, unless an exclusion from filing applies.

Here's more info on Form 8990.
