I received a w2g form from State of Michigan, but there is no box 14 on the form - State Winnings.  Do I leave it blank in turbo tax or do i use the amount in Box 1 - Gross winnings?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out!

If there is no Box 14 information on the W-2G, and you did not withhold state income tax from payment of gambling winnings (entered in Box 15), then you will leave it blank in TurboTax.  Per the IRS  "State Tax Information Boxes 13, 14, and 15 and Copies 1 and 2 are provided for your convenience only and don't have to be completed for the IRS. If you withheld state income tax on a payment of gambling winnings, you may enter it in box 15 of Form W-2G. If you do, also complete boxes 13 and 14. A state identification number (box 13) is assigned by each individual state. "

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thank you.  I do have one that state taxes were withheld but there is no box 14 on that one also, so I should leave it blank in turbo tax also?

If in fact state taxes were withheld, and you are entering it on Box 15, then you would also complete Boxes 13 & 14.  In Box 13 you would enter the state identification number, then in Box 14 you would enter the state winnings, and in Box 15 the amount of state income tax withheld.
