Will it red flag when IRS gets it and tie up the money? I own thee house and pay all expenses involved with it. I also pay about 20% of incurred children expenses while she pays about 80% including insurance for them through her company. Looking at totals, I pay significantly more. She claimed them behind my back when I have a righ to claim them. Turbo tax says I need to file hard copy through the mail. What happens when the IRS gets it? I need that money sooner than later

"our two kids.."   So your are their bio-dad and she is bio-mom?

Wow---would not want to be in your house.  Only one of you can claim the children when all of you live together.  Usually it is better for the parent who has the higher AGI to claim the children, but you could have calculated it both ways to see what came out better for the family.  If you plan to claim them then you do have to mail your own return -- you cannot e-file this year since the childrens' Social Security numbers have been used already.  So... either GF needs to amend her return----or you both get letters from the IRS eventually when the IRS seeks out who should have claimed the children.  Someone will be paying back a refund with penalties.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
