I am currently traveling in India and so would like to hand this off to my family in the U.S. for their help.

If you want to allow someone else to look at your tax return you tell them how to open your account and give them your user ID.  That is entirely up to you.

When your family member tries to log in, it may trigger a 2-factor authentication attempt.  If you get codes by text message or e-mail, you will need to be able to provide that code number to your family member within 10 minutes.  You may want to arrange for your family member to log in while you are available for a phone call, Skype call, or something else.  You could also reset your email or cell phone number to your family member, but then you would be completely locked out of the account (unable to verify with 2-factor) without their help.

You might consider switching to Turbotax installed on your own computers.  Your US relative can buy Turbotax and install it, and send you the installer via something like dropbox or google drive.  Then you can download the data file for your partial return and work on it using the installed software.  You can't have the file open at the same time, but you can take turns working on it if you share the active file using a file sharing service like Dropbox or Box.com.  (Pick a service that promises strong encryption and is not run by Google.)
