Hello, Do I need to file city taxes If we do not work in the city, but we rent a house in the city?

I am not sure if I actually need to file city taxes or not for the City of Lansing, MI. Neither I nor my wife work in Lansing and we are renting our home so we do not own any property in Lansing either.

If you are renting a home in Lansing, you are considered a Lansing resident and must file a Lansing City income tax return. If you paid tax in the city which you worked, you may be entitled to a credit to offset any taxes you may owe to the City of Lansing.
