Question

Hello, my tax return was rejected because it needed an aca explanation on the form 8962. I am not sure what to do, and some guidance would be appreciated.

In order for Form 8962 to generate, you must enter your 1095-A from the Marketplace.

Where do I enter my 1095-A?

You should receive a 1095-A (by mid-February) if you purchased health insurance through Healthcare.gov or your state's health insurance marketplace. It should include info for everybody on your return who was enrolled in a Marketplace plan during the tax year.

Unlike the 1095-B and 1095-C, you need to enter this form. You won't be able to take the Premium Tax Credit without it.

Here's how to enter your 1095-A in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return
  2. Select Search and enter 1095-a
  3. Select Jump to 1095-a
  4. Answer Yes and enter your 1095-A info on the next screen and select Continue
    • We don't need all the info from your 1095-A, so we'll only ask about the info that affects your return

If you have Form 8962 and a 1095-A, and aren't sure what to do with them, here's some info on how to file them with your return.
