Question

Hello. The website shows "Keep an eye on your inbox. We will have an update for your soon. " Does that mean you will send some documents to me by mail?

Did you e-file your return? That means you should receive an email with updates to your email address. TurboTax does not send you any documents in the mail to your home address.

Got it. Thanks for your replying. I submit my return by mail.

You are welcome. Okay, if you submitted it by mail, then TurboTax will not provide any updates. The IRS and/or state doesn't provide updates to TurboTax as they do with e-filed returns. But if you had e-filed, then you'd get updates to your email inbox. I will provide some steps below that you can take to check status of your mailed return.

Also, when you choose File by Mail, you have to print and mail the return yourself. TurboTax will not mail it for you.

We have no way to know when the IRS and/or state receives your return when you mail them. The status will remain "ready to mail" in your account when you log in, after mailing the return. You will have to check the status of that with the IRS and your state. I will provide how to do that below. They do not provide an update to TurboTax as they do with e-filed returns.

If you mailed your federal return and are expecting a refund you can start checking the status of your return on the IRS website Where's My Refund 4 weeks after mailing your return. It takes that amount of time for it to show up in their system.

You only want to call them if it’s been at least 6 weeks since you mailed and at that time, you can reach them at the IRS tax refund hotline at 800-829-4477, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Choose your state here https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433 and it will provide you instructions on how to check the status of your state return on your state's website.
