Hi I work in NJ and live in NYC. Is capital gain/ dividend income considered "New Jersey sources"?

    No, as a NYC resident, your capital gains and dividend income are not New Jersey sources.

    The only exclusion would be if you have capital gains from the sale of business/rental property in the state.
