How can a 1041 Trust Tax Return be amended?

If taxes were done using tax software such as TurboTax or H&R Block tax software but the return was mailed in, how can it be amended? In the case if it was filed electronically with either tax software how can this be done? It’s just a hypothetical question in case after hiring an accountant this year I want to do my taxes myself in the future. Thanks!

    To amend a return using TurboTax that was not prepared using TurboTax you have to recreate the original return.  In many cases you can enter totals directly on worksheets, as opposed to entering all source documents.  You just need the Form 1041 (or whatever Form your amending) and the accompanying Forms and Schedules to agree.  Once you have that, you can amend it.

    You use the same form 1041 to amend the return. You prepare a new, corrected one and then check the amended box on the top of page one. You need to included a copy of the original return when you mail it in:
