How can I file (either Mail or E-file) taxes if my child dependents do not have SSN nor ITIN?

My visa status is F1 (OPT) and I earned income in 2022. My wife is F2 and dependent and did not earn any income (cannot file jointly due to visa). My child dependents are not US Citizens, don't have SSN or ITIN. The issue is TurboTax does not allow me to file Federal taxes because SSN/ITIN field for my child depdents is empy.

F-1 visa holders generally file non-resident returns (Form 1040-NR). TurboTax does not support this filing. You can file with TurboTax partner Sprintax.com.

A married U.S. nonresident would file as married filing separately. You will not be able to claim your wife as a dependent and probably not your children.

Only U.S. nationals and residents of Canada and Mexico can claim a dependent on the same terms as U.S. citizens.

Residents of South Korea and students or business apprentices from India who are eligible for the benefits of Article 21(2) of the United States–India Income Tax Treaty may claim dependents on the more limited terms described in chapter 5 of Pub. 519. No other person filing a Form 1040-NR can claim a qualifying dependent.
