How can I file only my federal tax return now and my state at a later date

What's the rush? The IRS will not be accepting 2020 returns until February 12, 2021. If you want to send your federal return to pending status on the server where you cannot get to it to make any changes for weeks, you can do that. Then you will need to come back to your account after the federal return has been accepted and file your state. A state return cannot be accepted until the IRS has accepted your federal return.
