I'm not sure if we had to shut down and get on unemployment for 2021 at my job. I moved so if the information was sent to me, I did not receive it.

You can call your state's unemployment office. You can also go on to your previous state's unemployment website, log in to your account and look for year end tax forms. If you see a 1099-G for 2021, print it out and enter it in TurboTax. If you don't see that tax form, you didn't receive unemployment benefits.

  • You could also check your bank records to see if you received any unemployment benefits. The IRS considers unemployment compensation to be taxable income—which you must report on your federal tax return. Some states also count unemployment benefits as taxable income.

If you did receive unemployment benefits, see Where do I report a 1099-G for unemployment or paid family leave?
