How can I make a few prepayment now and before April ? to chip away at my tax bill, to avoid paying full lump sum in April?  I have not filed yet, but my tax bill will be high.  Can I make payments to IRS now, so I don't have such a huge lump sum payment in April?   How?

You can make payments directly to the IRS using the IRS payment website.  Choose Direct Pay and Reason for Payment choose Balance Due, for Apply payment to choose Income Tax - Form 1040 and Tax Period for Payment choose 2024https://www.irs.gov/payments

Then when you file if you have a tax due say you will mail a check.  And then just pay the difference from what you sent in.  You will get a 1040V voucher to pay so cross out the amount and pay what's left.
