If you want to make the first year choice declaration, you cannot e-file your taxes. Instead, you will need to submit your tax forms along with the election by mail.

Can those planning to make the first year choice e-file the extension form 4868 that's required? I'm assuming the reason one must paper file the 1040 is only because of the supporting declaration that has to be included.
