Question

How can TurboTax stop calling me by my husband's name. It's not my name, and it's not the name I used when I set up my account. It's just the first name on our return.

You can change the name you are called, to your name, by switching your name and personal information into the first taxpayer position in the personal info section.  With TurboTax open select My Info in the left panel.  You will be taken to the Personal info summary page where you can edit/switch the order of you and your husbands information.

However, TurboTax does not recommend that you do this as it may cause an issue.  In addition the IRS does not like it when individuals change their order on the tax return.  It would be best if you do not make any changes to the order in which you are listed on the tax return.

DON't Switch Name positions, unless your tax account on TTX has never been used to file  a tax return in any prior year.

All kinds of things get messed up if you switch name positions...unless it is a brand new account this year. (And if you do that (switch name  positions), you will probably have to "Clear and Start over" to erase what's already been entered.

And...if you filed with husband's name first elsewhere last year, the IRS doesn't want you to switch, and may delay any refund...it'll still go thru, just may get delayed in processing a few weeks or a couple months.
