How come after i put in the last w2 for myself our federal refund went from 5000 somthing to 3000 something?

Generally the more income you have (the more W-2's entered into the program) the more in taxes you owe. The program takes into consideration all the income reported, along with the deductions/credits and taxes already paid in when they calculate the amount of total taxes owed. 

Keep going through the program. The refund amount will change when you add more pieces of information into the program.
