How do I add expenses if I don't want to upgrade?

Selfemplyoment at add expenses. I have a choice  of no expenses or Upgrading to enter expenses. I can't afford and don't want the upgrad

Sorry----if you are using online software the only version that can prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses is Self-Employed.   You might be happier using the CD/download since any version of the CD/download can prepare a Schedule C.
