Question

How do I answer "how do you want to receive your 2022 refund?" if I already know it will be applied to the payment plan I have for my 2021 taxes?

If you are already aware that your refund is going to be offset to pay back tax owed, just say you want a check.  The IRS knows that you owe, and they will take care of your refund by applying it to your tax owed.

    Very helpful...thank you! I was worried that doing that would make them think I was trying to "scam" the system and get my refund anyway.
