How do I begin filing my 2021 tax return if I don't work all year or have any income

There is no need to file a tax return if you did not have any income in 2021.

@eac588d20c33 there is no need to file a tax return, as long as you received your stimulus money (and any child tax credits)....the only way to get those monies you are entitied to is file, even if you didn't work. 

 

That is specific to 2021 tax year; in 2022, there is no stimulus payment and if you didn't work, then you are not eligible for the child tax credit

You are too late to use online TurboTax for a 2021 tax return.   

 

But you can use the software on the IRS Free File site.

 

Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free.  There are 8  free software versions available from the IRS Free File site
