I first was going to send via mail, changed my mind, then sent by e-file. My return email said it was filed, but also said it was ready to mail! Filed?

You went through the filing steps and technically filed, but it sounds like you opted to file by mail.  If you file by mail, you have to print, sign, and mail the return to the IRS.   As long as you did not actually mail the tax return, you can get back into your tax return, change the filing method to EFILE and submit them electronically.  I will leave instructions below with the steps.  Since TurboTax thinks you have completed your tax return, it has been locked.  The instructions will unlock it so that you can change to e-file and transmit your returns.  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/5561257
