    You can enter what your W-2 has for box 14.  For example if it says 24 Porterville School District, you can enter that. However, it may be wise to ask your employer to explain those abbreviations or codes to you. 

     

    For example: It could be something like union dues, which are not deductible (unless you are self-employed).

     

    In general, box 14 contains informational items that don't affect your taxes. ‌ Employers can put just about anything in box 14.  It's kind of a catch-all for items that don't have their own dedicated box on the W-2..‌ However, some employers use box 14 to report amounts that should be entered on your tax return.

     

    TurboTax will determine if your box 14 item affects your taxes.

     

    In TurboTax, enter the description from your W-2's box 14 on the first field in the row. Enter the dollar amount and select the correct tax category that goes with that description.  You can use "Other not classified" (or "other state and local tax, if that is appropriate).
