How do I file a loss of income from a bankruptcy discharge of debt?

I lost some money as a result of bankruptcy of a debtor. Can I recover some of that on my income tax?

If the loss was a personal loss you can not deduct the loss. However, if the loss was a business loss you can claim the loss on your business return.
