You are too late to e-file a federal  extension request.  If you wanted more time -- beyond May 1 -- you should have filed your federal extension request by April 15, 2025.   The IRS will recognize your automatic extension to May 1 by the zip code on your tax return.   If you are getting a refund or do not owe tax due, there is no penalty if you file later than May 1.   If you owe federal tax due, pay by midnight May 1 to avoid penalties.
