How do I find my federal identification number

Your personal federal identification number is your social security number or individual taxpayer identification number. 

 

If you are looking for your employer's  federal identification number it is located in box b of your W-2 form, usually just above or below your employer's name and address. It is a nine digit number formatted like this: XX-XXXXXXX.
