I E filed my return then noticed a double entry in the interest section. After I corrected the entry, the amount I owed my state dropped by more than half. I used the auto debit method to pay my state taxes and now I need to know how I get the overpayment back?

First, you need to undo your change so that your return matches what you originally filed.

Then, follow the instructions here to Amend My Return. Then you will re-make the change, print, and file your amendment by mail.  It generally takes 12-14 weeks for an amended return to be process and for you to receive your refund.
