How do I get my health insurance fine back after I've filed my taxes?

I took the questionnaire after I filed my taxes and was told I didn't need to pay the fine.  The questionnaire said to come back to Turbo Tax and they would help me file paperwork but I can't figure out where to go on the website to do this.

UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019

Since you have already filed your taxes, you will have to wait until your return is either accepted or rejected by the IRS.

  • If your tax return is rejected, then you can make the necessary adjustments and resubmit
  • If your tax return is accepted, wait until the IRS has had time to completely process your return and then file an amended return.

Form 1040X to amend your tax return is usually available mid-late February.  For current information on forms availability, please click on this link:  Federal Forms Availability

When the 1040X is available, please see the instructions contained in this article to amend your return:  How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed
