All you can do to file and claim your stepson is to print and mail in your return.

The IRS will process your return, and then make an investigation to determine who has the right to claim the dependent.

You cannot e-file this season and claim a dependent that has already been claimed.

You should use a certified service when mailing for proof of mailing date.
