Question

How do I get the Child Tax Cred for my oldest? The issue: I received the cred for my other kids but not her. I couldn't claim her last year, ex's year. Claiming her 2021

My ex and I alternate years in which we claim our daughter on taxes. He claimed her last year, so I did not receive the child tax credit for her, even though she's with me 85% of the time or more.  What complicates it is that I have other children with my husband for which I already received the credits. Is there a form I can file to get the credit for just one dependant? TIA

If you are claiming that child as a dependent on the 2021 return then just complete the interview in the program from beginning to the end ... enter them as a dependent in the MY INFO section and enter the amount of advance CTC you already  got on the others  when asked.  The program will complete the form 8812 automatically.

Thank you! I did so, and it worked out great.

When you file your return you will include your daughter as a dependent that you are claiming in the personal info section. If she meets the criteria as a Qualifying Child for the Child Tax Credit, she will be included on your form 8812 and you will receive the full Child Tax Credit with your return.
