Question

How do I get the "Refund Processing Service Fee" to go away? Changing my payment method to credit card doesn't remove it from my order summary of fees

I don't want to click "confirm payment" with my credit card until that fee goes away

Did you use the process in this TurboTax support FAQ to remove the pay with refund option - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/remove-pay-refund-fees-turbotax-online-change/L7UxC6ZZp_US_en_US?uid=m9gcz24z

If you used the process and the $40 service charge is still showing on your account then you will need to contact TurboTax support for assistance.  Use the key words Billing Issue

See this TurboTax support FAQ for contacting support - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/contact-turbotax/L2y9ZKpQB_US_en_US

I had the same question. And the answers, or process to opt out of paying the RPS fee make it seem like Intuit is making it difficult to avoid paying the $40 fee. They say it's optional in my State. Even the fine print in the Refund Processing Service Disclosure describes no additional cost for e-filing and paper check. Yet, when I choose to have a check mailed, I'm still forced to pay the fee.

What am I missing, or will Intuit provide a bug fix before 4/15/2025 at 11:59 local time?

I found a way around it. It's not obvious. Mentioned in the first answer is something paying with a credit card vs having the fee taken from your federal refund. Do that. Also have the check mailed vs direct deposit. That's really key.  I just  payed $15 to e-file state (after a $10 credit). I'd rather wait for a few weeks for small refund than pay some stupid $40 fee.
