How do I get TurboTax to include the tax return information for the other state I received credits in? KS and Federal have been accepted but AR is rejecting.

The reason for rejection is "Other state tax return(s) not included in the submission for the other state tax credit claimed.". I've reviewed my documents a few times and I have failed to see where I can select to have my Kansas tax return sent to Arkansas for verification of taxes paid. How do I get the Kansas return sent with my Arkansas information? (Ideally, electronically)

I have had my Kansas and Federal tax returns accepted, and I filled out the Kansas tax return before I input my information for Arkansas. The issue is my Arkansas tax return keeps getting rejected because they aren't getting my Kansas information to verify the taxes paid in Kansas. All of my information is correct, per the documents I have, Arkansas just isn't receiving all the documents they need. How can I rectify this?

It sounds to me that you may not have completed the returns in the proper order and thus the information did not get transferred correctly. For future reference, always complete your Non-Resident state return first, then your Resident state return. By doing this the correct information will transfer to the resident returns and you will get your credit.

In your case, since the Kansas return has already been filed, the only way you could get Arkansas to recognize the credit paid to Kansas, you will have to print both Arkansas and the Kansas returns and then paper file the return with Arkansas providing them a copy of the Kansas return so that you can get credit for payment to another state.

Before printing make sure that the credit is showing on the Arkansas return before you print and mail.

If the credit is not showing, then delete the Arkansas return. You will not be able to delete Kansas because it has already been e-filed. However, in this case, you want Kansas completed first.

Once you deleted the Arkansas return, go back and click on "Add a state" and go through and answer the questions. This should result in the Arkansas return being correctly calculated. You will still need to print and mail the return.
