How do I include the cost of textbooks to my tax return?

To claim the cost of your textbooks:

  1. Log in to your return.
  2. Go to Federal Taxes.
  3. Go to Deductions and Credits.
  4. Scroll down to Education.
  5. Select Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T).
  6. Select Edit next to the 1098-T.
  7. On the screen Here's Your Education Summary.
  8. Scroll down to Other Education Expenses (for all schools)
**Say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in a post**Mark the post that answers your question by clicking on "Mark as Best Answer"
