Question

How do I know for sure that I put down that I didn't receive any of the stimulus payments? Not the $1,200, $600 or $1,400 payments.

If you have not filed your tax return yet, you can check your input as follows.  Please be aware the third stimulus payment of $1,400 will not affect your 2020 income tax return you are currently preparing and should not be entered.

  1. In the Federal section, select the Federal Review interview section at the top of the screen.
  2. This will take you to the input section for the Recovery Rebate credit.
  3. Be sure to indicate the actual amount of each stimulus payment you received on the page that asks if you received a stimulus payment.
  4. There will be two boxes and both need to be completed.  If you did not receive any stimulus payments, please indicate We didn't get a stimulus payment by checking that box.

If you already filed your tax return, you can check the second page of your Form 1040, line 30 for the Recovery Rebate Credit.  If you indicated you did not receive any of the first 2 stimulus payments, your credit would show up on this line.
