Tax returns are not e-mailed.  They are e-filed--which is not the same thing.  They are transmitted to the IRS and/or state electronically.   Or...if you choose to file by mail, you have to print, sign and date the returns in ink, and mail them yourself.  TurboTax does not mail them for you.

In order to e-file your tax return you have to go all the way through the FILE section to a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now"---and click that button.

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

You should (or should have) gotten an email stating that the return was accepted by the IRS e-filing system (or that it was rejected)

No, if the return is rejected, TurboTax does not print and mail a copy, you would need to do that.

You can also check the "Where's My Refund" sites (if you expect a refund) or the IRS "Your Online Account"
