How do I know what was my state tax liability from last year?

Each state has a different tax form. Therefore, it is hard to tell you exactly where your state tax liability from last year is in your particular situation.

I would recommend looking at your state income tax return from 2019. Look for the line titled Total Tax. This would be your state tax liability from last year.

You can log into TurboTax if you used the software in the past and log in to obtain the returns.
